Dr. Maysa Alavi is a physician-leader in cannabinoid, psychedelic, and integrative medicine, dedicated to easing human suffering through ethical, evidence-based care. She earned her MD from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, completed residencies at Harbor-UCLA and USC–California Hospital, and trained in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.
She has served as an investigator and study therapist in the MAPS/Lykos MDMA trials and COMPASS Pathways psilocybin study, and formerly directed clinical methodology and safety at Usona Institute. As Founder and CMO of The Center for Functional-Psychedelic Medicine in New Orleans, she integrates ketamine therapy, functional medicine, and clinician education.
Her approach draws on psychedelic-assisted therapy, energy and body-based healing, mindfulness, chi gong, yoga, reiki, aromatherapy, autogenic hypnosis, and Daoist energy practices, often weaving these into group and retreat-based work. Dr. Alavi offers in-person and virtual sessions, retreats, and functional lab consultations in New Orleans, LA and Key West, FL.
